I took a long needed break today to check out the first big snow on Mt. LeConte, which is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Eastern Tennessee.  It was an incredible 10 mile round-trip hike via Alum Cave trail.

Mt. LeConte Lodge is about 6,360 ft elevation with the LeConte Peak is 6,593.

A few weeks before departing for a on-location shoot in Miami.  I learned about a wonderful foundation (Woodstock Foundation) that was putting on a fundraising event just north of Miami.  So I contacted the Event Chairman, Richard Jankus to volunteer my services & time to support this great event.  I truly enjoy giving back & each year I find myself donating my services & time to wonderful causes & organizations such as this one.  The “Fashionista” was held this past Friday at the Players Club in Wellington, Florida.  The event offered supporters a red carpet experience, cocktail party, multi-course dinner & the “Fashionista” fashion show.

Mt. LeConte located in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park has always been my favorite point to hike to for the past thirty (30) plus years.  So when my daughter who was born a natural runner starting taking up hiking with me at the age of four (4).  I knew our short term goal would be for her to top Mt. LeConte [third highest peak in the area at 6,593 ft] without assistance.  The only hard part about getting someone her age to do… keep her from trying to skip her way to the top.  I failed.

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago Exhibit

”Brooke” taken at The Carolina & SpaPinehurst Resort

Wiselyn Photography was invited to attend The American Convention at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago this evening put on by GraphiStudio’s album company.  There were several guest speakers throughout the evening that included Scott Kurkian from PPA & featured speakers Yervant & Anie Zanazanian from Yervant Photography to just name a few.  Invited attendees were asked to submit one image to be exhibited at The Museum of Contemporary Art.  It was truly an honor to have one of Wiselyn Photography’s Signature 2010 Wedding images exhibited in one of the top museums in the country.

This past Tuesday started out a little early.   As I had to cover over 500 miles to be at the Detroit Institute of Art in Detroit before two o’clock.  This wasn’t just any trip.  A few days earlier I received an invite to ”Get Candid Detroit” from Denis Reggie (the father of photojournalists style wedding coverage) to attend a workshop with five of the best wedding photographers in the world.  These guys don’t get together that often in one room and to be one of the few lucky one’s in the country to witness this gathering… I’m without words.

Joe Buissink - Bambi Cantrell - Jim Garner - Ken Sklute - Denis Reggie

Joe Buissink with Denis Reggis, Jim Garner, Ken Sklute and Bambi Cantrell organized and hosted this full-day intensive workshop for the city of Detroit.  Detroit city was selected for this Get Candid event as it is one of the hardest hit city’s in the country during today’s current economical down turn.  Each guest speaker spoke candid about their photography business,  insighton today’s current markets and how they have each set themselves up to strive in the current market downturn.  These guys held nothing back and I walked away with more new approach to my current business plan than I would have ever dreamed.

[Part 2] We met up with Brooke earlier this year at The Spa at the Pinehurst Resort for one of the most stunning Signature Bridal Session’s we have photographed to date.  The first part of this session was featured before the wedding without the bridal images.  The bridal session started on the grounds taking full advantage of the natural lighting and then we continued onto The Carolina Hotel & finished up at the world famous Pinehurst #2 golf course.

Hope you enjoyed this amazing preview Part II.  We are looking forward to your upcoming wedding at the Weymouth.

This past Friday I had the honor to work with the amazing Alexia Productions to document “Once Upon A Time In Arabia - Egyptian Nights” at Pellissippi Performing Arts Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.  This years event was especially exciting as Mohamed Shahin, a international choreographer & performer of folkloric & Oriental dance of Egypt performed Saidi Tahtib (Stick Dance) & Tanoura (Whirling Dervish).
